Q: At the moment I am studying organizational structure... Fun, I know! In your opinion what are the most important things to consider when you decide to design and modify a business? I will tell you my opinions a little later. Thanks!
A: I'd 'map' the existing organizational structure looking for strengths and weaknesses: most often this is done functionally (accounting, sales, operations, marketing, human resources, etc.). But this mapping could also be done by cross-functional teams - e.g. create a team for your key accounts (representatives from key organizational areas would be on each team). Consider size of the organization and the teams or departments. Consider the physical size of the organization. Consider the span of control for supervisory staff. Then do a 'review' of market, customers, suppliers, internal efficiencies/inefficiencies and see if changing/improving the org structure can improve efficiency and effectiveness.
